This is a challenging and exciting project that connects the world of e-commerce with the world of food: We took Shopify and all its built-in features, combined some creative development after brainstorming by our development team, and built an easy, fast, and accurate ordering website - from the login stage to the payment screen - with a smart menu, deliveries by region, bundles, self-pickup, a real-time order notification system, automations for operating hours, and much more...

The goal and challenge was to make Shopify a friendly food ordering platform that looks and feels like a delivery app. We created a meticulous ordering journey: from the main page, through the menu and toppings display, to the cart and checkout with precise delivery zone selection and a notification system for new orders that are handled quickly and efficiently.
Adjustments for every stage of the booking journey
1) Entering the site and immediate guidance:
- Top bar with service notifications
- A central call-to-action button “Order Now”.
- Smart opening modal for quick selection: delivery order / closing (when the kitchen is closed).
2) Intuitive menu navigation:
- Clear division into culinary categories: starters, main courses, side dishes, drinks, business/packages, frozen, and more.
- Fixed category bar on the side - quick jump to any section of the menu.
- Pictures of large, appetizing dishes, short descriptive text that explains exactly what you're getting.
3) Product pages tailored to food:
- Large and convenient +/- quantity selection buttons, quick addition to cart
- Order summary in cart and checkout
- “Special Order Instructions” field to capture specific requests.
- Microcopy of pickup/delivery hours, kosher and useful information.
4) Bundles and packages:
- Bundles for combined dishes (e.g. dish + side dish + drink) with smart pricing.
- Dynamic discounts in the cart based on predefined combinations.
5) Shipping, areas and distance pricing:
- Detailed area table at checkout - the customer selects the destination and sees the price in real time.
- Self-pickup option with emphasis on the address and pickup times.
6) Fast and secure checkout:
- Secure credit card payment, clear and clean UX.
- Clear order summary: dish image, quantity, price and delivery fee by region.
Automation and smart operations
- Closing orders during non-working hours: A mechanism that prevents future orders when the kitchen is closed and displays a customized message.
- Live menu management: quick addition/removal of dishes, daily temps, and highlighting “Hot Now.”
- Dynamic regional pricing: Shipping prices vary by neighborhoods and communities around Ashkelon.
Appetizing user experience
- Large, clean culinary images that illustrate texture, size, and presentation.
- Clear typography and large buttons – optimized for one-handed mobile use.
- Prominent service messages: kosher, hours, address, telephone number for telephone ordering.
The result
Shopify that feels like a dedicated delivery system: simple ordering, transparent pricing, images that sell, and fast screens. For staff - easy and clear operation, a real-time notification system for incoming orders. For customers - an experience that starts with an appetite and ends with a secure payment.
