Project Overview

As part of the project, we performed a particularly complex migration from an old WordPress site to Shopify. The process involved rebuilding the entire site infrastructure, while maintaining the integrity of the data, the existing user experience, and the category pages familiar to readers.

We built a new and upgraded, flexible and modern website, with a precise hierarchical structure, high performance and independent maintenance capability for the Yediot Sfarim team. The project required close coordination between the client's development, marketing and operations teams — and was successfully managed end-to-end by SPIKY.

Website design and development

  • A clean design that highlights covers, abstracts, and quotes — without cluttering.
  • Category and discovery pages: genres, series, authors, and recommendation sections.
  • Readable typography, breathing spaces, and quality cover images.
  • Fully responsive — browse and purchase parts on any device.

System integrations and interfaces

  • Inventory Management (ERP/WMS): Two-way synchronization of items, variations, inventory, and availability in real time.
  • Production of financial documents: connection to an invoicing system and production of automatic receipts after payment.
  • Shipping and logistics: integration with shipping providers, cost calculations, and order status tracking.
  • CRM and customer service: Transferring customer data and orders to service systems and retention campaigns.
  • Marketing & Automation: Connection to mailing platforms, audiences, and customer journeys.
  • Customized API & Webhooks: Real-time communication between systems and high load tolerance.

Smart search

  • Autocomplete: Real-time suggestions by titles, authors, and series.
  • Error correction and alternate names: Support for spelling errors and pen names.
  • Business boosters: Promoting “best sellers,” “new on the shelf,” and results-focused content.
  • Filter search results: genre, author, series, price range, and more.
  • Zero-results UX: Alternative suggestions and search expansion when there is no exact result.

Smart collections and advanced filtering

  • Smart collections: “Bestsellers”, “New on the Shelf”, “Children's and Youth Books”, “Vacation Reading” — automatically updated according to rules.
  • Advanced filtering: genre, author, series, price range, cover type, stock availability.
  • Proper menu hierarchy: Multi-level navigation (Home → Genres → Series/Authors) to improve discovery.

Guidance, support and maintenance

Since the website went live, we have been providing Yedioth Books with ongoing technical support, constant maintenance, and upgrades as needed. Support includes performance monitoring, system updates, process improvements, and new integration connections as the business grows.

User experience and results

The modular construction, extensive integrations, and smart search created a fast and accurate experience for readers — alongside significant operational improvements on the organizational side. The result: a live and dynamic catalog, efficient management, and higher conversions.

We are proud of our collaboration with Yedioth Sfarim and hope for a long, professional and fruitful relationship in the years to come.
